Cabinet Card portrait of Grandma Knappen. On back: "Very sweet and good; mother of George and Gene" Mrs. Theoda Sophia (née Spalding) Knappen, wife of Henry Knappen. In 1880 at the first meeting of the Ladies Library Association of Richland "Mrs. T. S. Knappen" was elected as the organizations first librarian. Theoda was born 24 March 1819 in Turnbridge, Orange County, Vermont. She died 25 February 1911 in Richland, Kalamazoo County , Michigan. She is buried in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland, Michigan.
