Description:
Male employee working in the Granualation Center at the Upjohn Company, Kalamazoo. Employee guides ingredients through a pan-feed comminuting machine. A plaque on the front of the equipment identifies the machine as a Fitzpatrick Model D comminuting Mill/Pulverizer. The company was originally formed to make friable pills, which were specifically designed to be easily digested. In 1995, Upjohn merged with Pharmacia AB to form Pharmacia & Upjohn, and was later owned by Pfizer.
