Paul Pommer correspondence, 1918-06-15, World War I
Creator:
Pommer, Paul
Description:
Letter from musketeer Paul Pommer addressed to the family of Gust. (Gustav) Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany. Postmarked Glogau, June 15, 1918. Pommer thanks his family and brother Martin for their letters on the local vocal festival and regrets to have missed hearing Herr Kuder and Fraulein Hargan's voices. He hopes to attend next year. He also thanks them for their birthday wishes. Pommer is now 21, which feels very old. This is the first time he has celebrated his birthday so far from home. He reflects that last year's birthday seemed dark. He recalls planning his grave as the grenaders stormed the field, but entrusted God with his future. Pommer also received birthday wishes from Lydia, and asks how his father's store is going. Pommer thanks Martin for the photographs, complementing his photography. He requests the addresses of Frau Rirt, Herr Hufnagel, Herr Ubrig, Herr Doering, Frau Ullrich, and Fraulein Meier.
