Miller, associate professor of English since 1946, was awarded a grant given by the Fund for the Advancement of Education, a branch of the Ford Foundation, to study in the United States. Chester L. Hunt, associate professor of sociology, was awarded a Fulbright grant for the 1952-53 school year to serve as a lecturer in sociology at the University of the Philippines. Elsworth Woods, professor of the political science department from 1949-1955, was selected for an instructorship in general education at Harvard University. After completing this study period, he headed of the Basic Studies program.
