Description
Promotional stand in an event hall for the “Iwantu” Gas Iron sponsored by the Kalamazoo Gas Company. A sign over the stand reads, "A Whole Weeks Ironing 4 cents with the Iwantu Gas Iron." A woman poses with the iron and a nearby trivet. Other signs posted on the display read "It saves dust & dirt," "It saves fuel & money," and "It Saves Time & Labor”. The "Iwantu" gas iron was made by Strause Gas Iron Company, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Kalamazoo Gas Company ran a promotion in 1913 offering the iron for 50 cents down payment and 75 cents a month for four months. Back of photo identifies woman as "My mother Nina Williams Worline".

Studio portrait of Blanche Draper from the 1946 Brown & Gold yearbook. Draper came to Western State Normal School in 1918 to serve as the faculty editor of the Western Herald. She continued to serve in an advisory capacity to the Herald after it became a student-staffed newspaper. Her position evolved to full-time publicity director for the institution, which she held until her death in 1951. Draper Hall and Dinning Service was co-dedicated in 1950 in her honor for 31 years as publicity director.

Description
John C. Hoekje seated at his desk and writing in ledger. John C. Hoekje served Western Michigan University in many different capacities from 1916-1955. He began as an instructor of education and psychology at WMU in 1916, was the Director of Extension from 1917-47, became registrar in 1921, and Dean of Admission in 1945. During that time, he served on numerous committees at WMU. An avid supporter of athletics, Hoekje was the tennis coach in 1925 and 1926, and was chairman of the athletic board for many years. Hoekje Hall was named in his honor.

Alice Louise LeFevre teaching seminar style class in the School of Librarianship at Western Michigan University. LeFevre is seated at the head of an oblong table with graduate students. Behind LeFevre is an East Asian hanging scroll. Alice Louise LeFevre came from Brooklyn to head the Department of Library Education in 1945, spending the first semester organizing the department and planning and developing the curriculum. Classes began in February 1946, with two students and three courses. LeFevre passed away in 1963 and in 1967, a seminar room in the enlarged Laboratory Library was named in her honor. The School of Librarianship graduate program was discontinued in the 1980s.

Facade of the Western Michigan University School of Business in North Hall on East Campus. Students surround the front facade of the building with its entrance portico with pediment supported by classical columns. Built in 1924, North Hall was altered several times, undergoing renovation in 1958 and a rolling storage system was installed in the basement in the 1970s. North Hall also housed the campus library and classrooms for the College of Busines' finance and commerical law, marketing, academic advising, college administration and psychology department. In 1990, the College of Business was moved to the Haworth College of Business on West Campus. The building was used for archival storage and as home to the Department of Industrial Design. It was demolished in 2014, and only the front entrance remains on Prospect Hill.
