Exterior of Mac Sim Bar Paper Company in Otsego, Michigan, featuring the new 180 foot stack at the paper mill. Emerging from two boilers, the smokestack was constructed of steel and installed the previous week. There are two men atop the stack and a flag. In the foreground are shipping materials strewn next railroad tracks. The paper company was named for Minet B. McClellan, Samuel W. Simpson, and George E. Bardeen.

Man seated on a horse-drawn, open bed wagon with two men in long coats standing. Sign on wagon reads: "We are delivering 40 Remington Typewriters to Kalamazoo Public Schools." Photo was taken at the southwest corner of South West Street and Pearl Street. Behind the wagon is Kalamazoo High School (third building, 1898-1922) with 1913 gymnasium addition. Typewriters were delivered to coincide with the Michigan State Teachers Association convention that was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Carl looking off in distance. Born in Saxony, Germany, Carl Kleinstueck came to the Kalamazoo area in 1885. He owned the land between Howard St. and the present Spruce Drive, from Oakland Drive to Stearns Ave which he called “Saxonia Farms.” The land included what would become Hillcrest neighborhood. The Kleinstueck (also Kleinstuck) Preserve is named after him.
