Police line crossing in front of the Student Center, Western Michigan University
A line of state police officers walking side by side at night in front of the Student Center (Bernhard Center) in May 1965. Officers are wearing helmets and carrying sticks and walking to the west. The majority of them are walking in the lawn in front of the Oaklands. The east side of the Bernhard Center can be seen in the distance. The police were called in response to confrontations at a snake-bar(?) student rally and to clear a street of students blocking traffic. In the background is a bus.
Policemen checking building door

Lights at police car shining at building. One officer African-American and the other Caucasian. A poster on the door includes the word “Sperry.”
