Black-and-white mounted photograph of a horse team pulling a sleigh which advertises Brownwall Engine & Pulley Company, Holland, Michigan. Behind the team and sleigh are shop fronts identified by signs above their entrance doors. The signs read: John Vander Sluis and French Cloak Co. View includes man driving a sled loaded with crates and pulled by a team of two horses standing in a snow covered streets in front of several storefronts. The man identified as William Mokme [Mokma?]. John Vander Sluis (1860-1943) was the directory of music at local churches. Later in February 9, 1894, he opened a dry good store in Holland, Michigan, on the site of the present De Fouw Electric Supply Co. During World War Two, he was the major of Holland.
