Letter from musketeer Paul Pommer addressed to the family of Gust. (Gustav) Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany. Postmarked Glogau, June 14, 1918. Since the last letter, Pommer has been relieved of his military duties. He adds that two days ago Herr Prdg. Rolle (a preacher) visited him. Herr Rolle now works with a youth organization. Since Rolle's visit, each day is much the same and typically includes waking up, washing, writing, going into the garden, then waiting for mail. Pommer wants to change things up, but he is always in the hospital. He hopes to leave soon. Pommer describes a tragic incident where a patient was walking near the river (die Oder) and fell in 100 meters deep water and drowned. A corporal witnessed the incident helplessly. The patient had six kids, and because of his bandages, was unable to swim. In total, five soldiers died that day, three from sickness. Pommer mentions receiving a letter from Martin. The doctor thinks Pommer's wound should heal in 8 to 11 days and hopes to remain in Glogau for only three more weeks, having been in hospitals for a quarter of a year.
