Description:
|
Letter from musketeer Paul Pommer addressed to the family of Gust. (Gustav) Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany. Postmarked K.D. Feldpost, March 26, 1918. Pommer describes writing in spare moments between long marching each day and early evening. He admits that only with God's help has he been able to persevere, and views this struggle all as a part of God's will. He asks his family to send regards to Emilie, who sent him a letter and small cake. He acknowledges that death could be near and accepts it, telling his family to prepare for this as well. He views the struggle as not only for his fatherland but also for his family.
