Description:
Good example of a hand-colored aquatint. The plate is from Life in London 1823, located between pages 182 and 183. The plate indicates "Drawn and Engraved by I.R. & G. Cruikshank" although the print can be identified as an aquatint with etched lines. Variations in the structure of the aquatint grain indicate that it was probably produced with the "spirit-ground" method. The actual plate was "Pubd. by Sherwood, Neely, & Jones Augt. 31, 1820."
