Pommer, Paul
Description:
Letter from musketeer Paul Pommer, addressed to the family of Gust. (Gustav) Pommer in Frankfurt, Germany. Letter dated February 2, 1918, written from Wetteren in Belgium. He is happy that his first packet he had sent made it, but wonders why his mail from the 20th and 23rd of December did not make it to his family. This package had some apples and other minor things. He discusses the Kaiser's birthday celebration and ongoing correspondence with others, including a person named Frieda?, Herr Weber, and Ludwig Mueller. He writes about busy Saturday the 27th, where he marched in a parade. He is doing well, with only a few days out of the week with many work duties, and plenty of quiet time. Though on Thursday he spent the whole day in a dugout/trench. By the time he wrote this letter, he had been in Wetteren for four weeks, and hopes that reinforcements will come by the six week mark. The war is raging on. He ends the letter wishing everyone his love.
